In Thee

I asked in a whisper
“God, how can it be
That You exist out there
Yet still reside in me?

In what landscape may I know You
If You prevail in either place?
Whereupon should I focus –
Where shines the light of Grace?”

Then in the mid of searching
The thought came suddenly:
My simple heart has known all along
That I reside in Thee

Homeward

On this side of the door lies opportunity and growth.
Billions of souls scurrying about, learning of loneliness, pride;
Experiencing isolation, jealousy, humility and joy,
Slowly realizing the immutable law of love.
Time expands in these shadows
All we once understood is clouded;
Held in the frailty of human living.
All slows down to a lesser pace,
Freeing us to make each connection anew,
Creating ownership of each delicate idea.
Beyond the doorway, in a small, quiet, unassuming way
Is embossed the word “Entrance".
It is inescapable.
Homeward bound, we will step under its arch again.
Will we do so with a mind full of regret
Or hearts full of love?
Maybe that is all we have to decide.
